नक्षत्र (Nakṣatra) — What the word means

Nakṣatra comes from two Sanskrit roots: na (not) + kṣarati (to decay / to fall). A nakshatra is that which does not decay — the eternal stars. Each nakshatra has a ruling planet (lord), a ruling deity, a symbol, and a set of personality qualities.
