पराजयः अन्तः नास्ति — यावत् प्राणाः सन्ति।
Parājayaḥ antaḥ nāsti — yāvat prāṇāḥ santi.

The Walls Are Breached
अप्रैल १८५८ वर्षे ब्रिटिश सेना झाँसीदुर्गस्य भित्तिं भित्त्वा प्रविशत्। लक्ष्मीबाई जानाति स्म — दुर्गं रक्षितुम् अधुना अशक्यम्। सा सामन्ताम् अवदत् — "दामोदरं मम पृष्ठे बध्नीत। अहं पलायिष्यामि।" दामोदरः मात्रा पृष्ठे बद्धः — माता युद्धाय सज्जा। एवं राज्ञी मातृत्वं, राजत्वं च एकत्र वहति स्म।
In April 1858, the British army breached the walls of Jhansi Fort and entered. Lakshmibai knew — it was now impossible to protect the fort. She told her attendant — "Tie Damodar on my back. I shall escape." Damodar was tied to his mother's back — the mother was ready for battle. Thus the queen carried motherhood and queenship together.
