प्रथमात् विद्यालयात् — अन्ये अजायन्त। फातिमाशेख — उस्मानशेखस्य भगिनी — सावित्र्याः सहायिका। उभे मिलित्वा — बालिकाः, दलितपुत्राः — सर्वान् पाठयताम्। सप्त वर्षेषु — अष्टादश विद्यालयाः पुणेनगरे। इयं संख्या — सामान्या नासीत्। इदं संकल्पः, शौर्यम्, प्रेम।
From the first school — others were born. Fatima Sheikh — sister of Usman Sheikh — was Savitribai's colleague and supporter. The two women together taught — girls, Dalit sons — all of them. In seven years — eighteen schools in Pune city. This number was not ordinary. It was saṃkalpa (संकल्पः — resolve), courage, and love.
