By downloading, installing, or using the VedaLingo application (“the App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

1. License to Use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense the App or its content.

2. Content & Intellectual Property

Ancient texts (public domain):

The App draws on classical Sanskrit literature — including the Rāmāyaṇa, Mahābhārata, Bhagavad Gītā, Upaniṣads, Vedas, Yoga Sūtras, Panchatantra, and related works. These ancient texts (composed thousands of years ago) are in the public domain worldwide.

Our original content (© 2026 VedaLingo):

The following are original works owned by VedaLingo and protected under copyright:

  • App design, UI, and user experience
  • Original English translations, transliterations, and commentary provided in the App
  • Story retellings, scene descriptions, and educational content written for the App
  • App illustrations, graphics, and visual design elements
  • The VedaLingo name, logo, and brand identity
  • Grammar lessons, quiz questions, and structured learning curriculum

Third-party content:

AI-generated content (Daily Wisdom, Sanskrit analyses, etc.) is produced via the Google Gemini API. We do not claim ownership of AI outputs but present them for educational use.

3. Content Sources & Attribution

Our content is derived from the following primary sources (all public domain):

  • Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa — critical edition (BORI, Pune)
  • Mahābhārata — Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute critical edition
  • Bhagavad Gītā — traditional commentarial tradition
  • Principal Upaniṣads — Advaita Ashrama editions
  • Ṛgveda, Atharvaveda — traditional recensions
  • Patañjali Yoga Sūtras — traditional text
  • Pañcatantra — Edgerton edition and traditional recensions
  • Akbar-Birbal folk tales — traditional oral literature
  • Śivājī Mahārāj stories — Sabhāsad Bakhar, Citnīs Bakhar (17th–18th century chronicles)
  • Arthaśāstra, Nāṭyaśāstra — traditional texts

4. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or hack the App
  • Use the App to harm, harass, or discriminate against any person or group
  • Reproduce or redistribute our copyrighted content without written permission

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI-generated content will always be accurate. Sanskrit scholarship is a complex field; while we strive for accuracy, please consult qualified scholars for authoritative interpretations.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VedaLingo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Mumbai, Maharashtra.
