Key Points to Remember

Translation Practice

This worksheet practices translating simple English sentences into Sanskrit. Use the verb forms and vocabulary from previous worksheets. Strategy: (1) Identify the subject → Prathamā, (2) Identify the object → Dvitīyā, (3) Choose the correct verb form.

Sentence-building order

Subject (Prathamā) + Object (Dvitīyā) + Verb — Sanskrit is SOV (Subject-Object-Verb)

The boy reads a book → बालकः पुस्तकम् पठति।

Bālakaḥ pustakam paṭhati.

बालकः = Prathamā | पुस्तकम् = Dvitīyā | पठति = 3rd sg. present

Mother gives fruit → माता फलम् ददाति।

Mātā phalam dadāti.

माता = subject | फलम् = object | ददाति = 3rd sg. of √dā

We go to school → वयम् विद्यालयम् गच्छामः।

Vayam vidyālayam gacchāmaḥ.

वयम् = we (1st pl.) | विद्यालयम् = Dvitīyā | गच्छामः = 1st pl. of √gam
