ā-stem feminine
The ā-stem Feminine — Pattern Overview
sītā
Sītā — the ideal queen, daughter of the earth, embodiment of purity and devotion
Stem: सीत (sīta)
The ā-stem feminine (sītā-type) is the most common feminine noun pattern in Sanskrit. Where a-stem masculine ends in -aḥ (rāmaḥ), ā-stem feminine ends in -ā (sītā). The endings are distinct — learning both patterns lets you read real Sanskrit sentences with both male and female subjects.
